Dear KUN:ST artist

Autumn is just around the corner. What should I write in these strange times? 2020 will be remembered also in the history of our art association as the Corona year. The hope of a quick resolution of the situation is fading more and more and the feeling arises that all of our lives are changing permanently or at least will change much longer than we all wished for in March. What's important this month?

In fact, we are not entirely comfortable with the location of our General Meeting at the end of October. If the number of Corona infections continues to rise, then it does not seem opportune to have our General Meeting taking place in the cramped conditions of the gallery, especially when members travel long distances to be at this meeting. We are currently looking for an alternative solution with larger space.

But the art life goes on. The application deadlines for our 'The Profession Project' and for the 'Merry Christmas' exhibition ended yesterday. Both exhibitions are fully booked, all applications / registrations are allowed for both exhibitions and we will shortly inform you about the respective logistics.

Today we are announcing the first two exhibitions in 2021. In January we invite our new members from the past two years to register for this exhibition under the title 'The New'. Our beloved KUN:ST Art Prize will follow in February. In 2021 it will be the fifth edition of our Art Prize and this time again an open competition. This year the chosen theme 'Humans, where are you?'

PERSONAL NOTES

Now in September we are showing an exhibition with artworks from Uta Heiland and Manfred Wendel. Uta's paintings and Manfred's hybrids of two- and three-dimensional objects are ideally complementing each other. During this period, our beautiful art cellar is reserved for our helpers, who support us throughout the year in covering the gallery opening times and we present as selection of their artworks.
Duration of the exhibition: September 3rd - 27th,2020
Show opening: Sunday, September 6th, 2020 | 11.15 am
Immediately after the Personal Notes exhibition we are showing two exhibitions at the same time:

RHYTHM ‘N‘ BLUES – LA VIE EST BELLE

Karin & Klaus Feuchtinger take us on their art journey. In the rhythm of the world, the beautiful sides of life help us to gain new strength. They give us the energy to keep looking for creative solutions in spite of all adversities.
Duration of the exhibition: October 1st - 25th, 2020
Show opening: Sunday, October 4th, 2020 | 11.15 am

THE PROFESSIONS PROJECT

We are presenting an extensive portfolio of artworks around the theme of 'professions' that has been created over the past Corona months, all in 40 x 40 cm format and at three-digit price points.
Duration of the exhibition: October 1st - 25th, 2020
Show opening: Sunday, October 4th, 2020 | 11.15 am
As mentioned in the introdcution, we are now announcing two new exhibitions:

THE NEW

Every beginning - they say - has a magic inherent in it. We are welcoming the New Year 2021 in January and with that comes the idea of providing THE NEW members of KUN:ST International the opportunity, space and the time present their artworks – to the public, but also to other members. In this case, the NEW members are artists who joined KUN:ST International since January 1st, 2019.
Duration of the exhibition: 7th - 31st January 2021
Show opening: Sunday, January 10th, 2021 | 11.15 am

HUMANS, WHERE ARE YOU? | KUN:ST ART PRIZE 2021

It feels like our world has not become a better place to live for us humans in recent years. With the topic 'Man, where are you?' we want to motivate artists to participate and invite them to take an artistic stand on the diverse impressions and feelings that arise for each individual in this eventful time with corona, climate change, political decisions, war, hunger or refugees.
Duration of the exhibition: February 4th - 28th, 2021
Show opening: Sunday, February 7th, 2021 | 11.15 am

GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2020

We have already invited separately to the general meeting on October 31st. Everything is still unchanged, reservations for hotel and evening entertainment have been made. As I wrote at the beginning, our concerns are growing about the increasing number of infections, which we need to watch closely.

For our general assembly there is a formal requests from our Inge Louven on the agenda. In principle, formal request have to be communicated at least 14 days before the general meeting so that the relevant topic can be voted on and formally e decided at the general meeting. That is the reason why I communicate this request in advance. The request basically says that we should promote and adverise the vacant board position in education & training to be able to hire someone into this position.
Here is the link to the formal request.

The position of the board of directors is that we in the board in 2019 identified a situation of work overload that can no longer be handled anymore with volunteer work. We set up the 'Quo Vadis' task force, which then examined logistical and financial scenarios over a period of several months, and as a result, the board of directors unanimously decided on a package of actions that essentially means: we drop everything that is not in line with what we believe ist the number ne priority of our members: exhibition activities at home and abroad. The full board stands by this decision and requests that the application be rejected after discussion. At the same time, the Board would like to point out that there are other vacant positions for which we have not yet found any candidates.

News at a glance

Our Homepage, which we continuously update also during these times, remains important for everyone for their own orientation:

On my own matters

As many have already noticed, I am now a supporter of virtual exhibition platforms. I actually believe that these will develop into 'game landscapes' in the long term. Just as people listen to audio books or watch Netflix on a train journey today, in the future they will visit virtual shops, museums or galleries. Not everyone shares this belief, that's why I didn't announce the first project of a virtual exhibition from within the association, but as a commercial project of our association sponsor ARTe.
